ABOUT THE ARTIST
Donna Mussato, a local published poet from Novato upon seeing my work wrote this, “Poetry in your lens! Thank you for the eye you have for the beauty we see. (For those of us who get to live here, near West Marin.)” Thus inspiring the name of my website: www.lenspoetry.com.
I moved to Marin in November of 2004; living in Nicasio behind the red schoolhouse. Not long thereafter, I became overwhelmed by the natural beauty of the area and started photographing it whenever I could. I currently reside in Novato. The commute from Novato to Inverness Park has allowed many magical moments and scenes to be captured through my photo lens.
You can find my work on display (and, more often than not, meet me in person) at the Busy Bee Bakery in Inverness Park next to Perry’s Deli. My work is also currently on display at Whale of a Deli in Point Reyes Station, The Drake's Beach Cafe (at Drake's Beach), and Barnaby's Restaurant, Inverness. My works have also been displayed at the Bank of Petaluma’s two locations in Point Reyes Station and Petaluma as well as at Stanford University's Faculty Club.
I was born and raised in Minnesota, had a short stay in the muggy state of Florida, and eventually found the paradise of northern California. I took some photography classes in college, but my major was aviation. I am a licensed pilot, and have seven years full-time flying. First I flew as an instructor pilot, teaching others to fly, then as a charter/corporate pilot. I have over 5000 hours with 2000 hours multi-engine.
I have used this flight experience for aerial landscape, property, home and commercial photography as well as the fine art photography you see featured on this website.
” I do my best to capture the essence of the moment. I’d like you to see what I saw, feel what I felt at the time of shutter release. Can you feel the breeze in your face? Can you smell the ocean and hear the waves? Can you feel the exhilaration of being that close to a hawk or coyote?
I try to capture things you’ve seen, experienced and felt. So, that you can take them home with you, display them, and enjoy them over and over again.”
Now, go look at some pictures and have fun!
